"Every company begins as an opinion."
Synaphea didn't begin with funding.
It didn't begin with an office, investors, or a large team.
It began with a simple observation: many software systems have become unnecessarily complicated.
Over the last few years I've worked on projects involving AI, distributed systems, robotics and video management systems. Each project reinforced the same lesson—complexity is often mistaken for sophistication.
I don't believe good engineering should feel complicated.
I believe software should quietly solve problems while remaining understandable, maintainable and reliable.
That belief became Synaphea Systems.
My goal isn't to build software for the sake of technology.
The goal is to build products that people can trust.
Products that are fast.
Products that remain simple as they grow.
Products that are still understandable years after they're written.
This website exists alongside that journey.
Some essays will describe systems I've built.
Others will document mistakes, ideas, architecture decisions and lessons learned while building a company from the ground up.
Nothing here should be treated as absolute truth.
These essays are snapshots of how I think today.
Hopefully, over time, they'll show how that thinking evolves.
